Homeopathy - a natural approach to medicine for those seeking an alternative to conventional medicine
Homeopathy is an alternative approach to medicine that finds ways to encourage the body to heal itself, and is often referred to as homeopathy remedies or homeopathics.
Homeopathy is based on three philosophies. The first philosophy is the concept of "like cures like". For example, if you are experiencing symptoms similar to those caused by a certain type of poison your remedy would be that poison. The second is minimal dose. The remedy is usually taken in a diluted form of 1 part remedy to 1,000,000,000,000 parts water. The third is the single remedy. In homeopathy there is only one remedy, even if the person is experiencing multiple symptoms.
Many people are drawn to this alternative choice in medicine because it is natural. The remedy can be taken by anyone including babies and pregnant women without the risk of side effects. They can also be taken with other prescribed medicines. Homeopathy also treats the cause of the symptoms not just the individual symptoms so once it is taken care of symptoms caused by the same problem should not return. This allows people to have better health for longer periods of time.
Because homeopathy remedies are supposed to treat all the symptoms it may take longer to find the right remedy because it is different for every individual and it may be hard to get the exact remedy needed.
Homeopathy has been practiced and researched for over 200 years and is supported by the research of a man named Samuel Hahnemann a German medical student who in 1808 brought together everything he had learned from his teachers about medicine and called it homeopathy.
Homeopathic medicine should generally be taken in high potency for long-term ailments and low for ailments that are new. Strong flavors should also be avoided like toothpaste and coffee.
