Boswellia reduces inflammation naturally and is an excellent alternative for reducing joint pain and arthritis pain relief

Boswellia is known for its strong anti-inflammatory properties. It is most often used for arthritis pain relief, joint pain relief, back pain relief, chronic intestinal disorders, and to reduce muscle inflammation.

Boswellia contains active ingredients that experts call boswellic acids. These work as an anti-inflammatory in numerous ways. Boswellic acids increase blood flow to the joints, stop inflammatory white blood cells from entering the damaged tissue, and block chemical reactions that cause inflammation in chronic intestinal disorders.

Health Benefits

A boswellia supplement may be best for those suffering from intestinal disorders such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. These intestinal disorders cause extreme pain, but most pain relievers only increase the problem because they cause digestive upset. One study of note, is a study done in 1997 where 82% of the intestinal disorder sufferers who took the recommended dosages of this healing herb experienced complete remission of their disease.

For back pain relief, this medicinal herb seems to work best for lower back pain and if it is taken orally. Boswellia cream helps soothe the muscles, but does not seem to work as well. It is also being studied as an anti-asthmatic drug. Studies show that taking this medicinal herb seems to decrease the number of asthma attacks, but little is known about how it will interact with other asthma treatments so consult your doctor if you are considering taking this organic herb to help with asthma.

Healing herbs experts suggest 210-240 milligrams of boswellia for arthritis three times per day or 150 milligrams for back pain relief and for the relief of other aches and pains. For intestinal disorders it is suggested that a patient take 400 milligrams three times per day.  The herb comes in tablet, cream and capsule form. The cream can be rubbed on areas that are experiencing pain. Boswellia is considered safe and there are no known drug interactions and only rare side effects have been noted including rash, nausea, and diarrhea. As with most herbal supplements you should not take healing herbs if you are pregnant or nursing.
